The Victoria Lake Group is located on the western shore of Victoria Lake, approximately 6.5 kilometres southeast of Port Alice.

The area is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group. These vary from hematitic basalts and andesites, amygdailoidal and epidotized, tuffs and tuff breccias, rhyolites, dacites and porphyritic phases.

Locally, erratic mineralization of chalcopyrite, bornite and pyrite occurs as small blebs and disseminations along epidotized fractures and amygdules in amygdaloidal volcanic and dioritic rocks.

In 1973 and 1974, Geor Mine & Oil Ltd. completed a series of exploration programs of airborne and ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical sampling. Samples of mineralized basaltic volcanics returned up to 2700 parts per million copper (Assessment Report 4901).
